What led you to a career in logistics? “I actually got involved in logistics by accident. My sister works for a logistics company and during COVID they needed additional help. I initially agreed to 6 months but loved the industry and excitement.”

Why is it important to observe Women’s History Month? “I think that women’s history is important because it hasn’t always been easy to make a career for yourself as a woman. Women in history paved the way, so it’s something to be celebrated. Looking at the progress we have made over time is remarkable.”

Challenges that women face in this industry: “Logistics is a male-dominated industry for the most part so earning respect in the industry can be tough but, I think over time there’s been a shift. Now, many women are in powerful positions across the board. It’s important to support each other and help get more women involved in the industry.”

What would people be surprised to learn about working in the logistics industry? “It’s a big puzzle. There’s always something new going on so you learn something new everyday. It’s so much more than just containers and drivers and I think COVID highlighted how essential logistics truly is for everyone.”

The best piece of career advice you’ve ever received: “Never stop learning—know the markets you’re working in and keep coming up with innovative solutions.”

What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute your success to, and why? “I think confidence is key. Worst-case scenario is you get a “no” but I think people respond well to being persistent and not taking no for an answer.”

A woman that you find empowering: “Billie Jean King”

What’s a work-related accomplishment that you’re really proud of? “I am really proud of the business we have created in Memphis. Cargomatic came into a new market and sent the message we are here to stay and grow. It’s not always easy going somewhere new and establishing yourself so looking at the progress we have made in such a short time is something I’m very proud of. I’m lucky to work at a company that supports new growth and new ventures.”

What’s your ideal way to spend your weekend?  “My ideal weekend would be spent with my fiancé and dog—good food, good drinks, and some time in the sun.”
