Moms on the Move: Emily Gingras, Strategy Team Coordinator

Emily Gingras, Strategy Team Coordinator

In recognition of Mother’s Day, we wanted to give a special shoutout to some of our colleagues with kiddos! Our superstar Strategy Team Coordinator Emily Gingras is a mom to 2, softball coach, and a great example of how a thoughtful balance between family and work can help parents thrive in all areas of their lives, both personally and professionally.

What advice would you give working moms for how to achieve a healthy work-life balance?

Be present in the moment. Set up boundaries and make your kids aware of your schedule. Create a fun weekly tradition so they have something to look forward to. Every Friday we do a movie night and my girls get to choose dinner. We set up a ‘picnic’ in the family room and enjoy dinner while watching a movie.

Why is having a work/life balance important? Why is having supportive colleagues important?

Work/life balance is important to me because I love being outdoors and involved in sports and my passion is coaching. Once I’m finished with work for the day, I am on the soccer or softball field or on the pool deck watching my kids thrive in a positive youth sports environment. I enjoy giving back to my community and am thankful my colleagues support my passion. I love that the first few minutes of meetings are devoted to checking in on your colleagues to see what they are up to or how their weekend was. I appreciate that type of dialogue is encouraged with both colleagues and customers.

What’s your favorite thing about your job?

My colleagues and spending time with them outside of work. Cargomatic offers so many fun team-building activities – I really enjoy getting to know my colleagues and connecting with team members from around the country and being able to take a night off from being ‘Mom’.

What do your kids think about what you do/where you work?

If they could describe your job, what would they say? My kids would say I work for a shipping company that helps get things to a store or to your house. They both said they like the candy and treats I bring home leftover from special events.
