Customer Success Manager (and mom to 6 month-old Emma!), Andrea Aguirre, shares what it was like to return to work after maternity leave as well as some top tips for working moms, and why it’s so important to maintain a healthy balance between work and family life.

What is it like to balance mom life with work life?

Some days are full of joy and sweet surprises, and others days are exhausting and challenging. But if I get tactical with my time and be productive I feel confident and accomplished with my mom and work duties.  And most importantly make sure I give myself grace.

What is your favorite thing about your job?

My favorite thing about my job is the work environment and I like that it’s a unique position and the interaction with my customers. It is not only business, but we grow together as individuals.

What would people be surprised to know about being a working mom at a company like Cargomatic?

If there’s one thing working moms in the logistics industry feel like they need, it’s more time. This industry is non-stop and there aren’t enough hours in the day when it comes to a full time job. Cargomatic has been a life saver throughout Covid and maternity leave. Giving me the opportunity to work from home and provided flexible hours. I was able to reorient to life with a new baby. I’ve even started a new role supporting communications and support for our accounts.  I’m proud to say I work for a company that supports new parents and values the importance of family commitments.

Why is having a work/life balance important? Why is having supportive colleagues important?

It’s important to have work and life balance to make sure I take control of the hectic moments and newborn struggles and snuggles. But to feel refreshed and energized to pick things up where I left off is the best feeling knowing I gave it my all and succeeded for my company throughout the day. And to look forward to the next day and knowing my company stands by me and the great support team behind the scene is right there. Just make my life balance and work at peace.
