What led you to a career in logistics? “Truthfully, I never imagined having a career in the logistics industry, but now that I am here, there is no other place I would rather be. Seeing firsthand how important this industry is to the world has been such an eye opener. I love that logistics is ever-evolving, and there is something new to learn everyday.”
Why is it important to observe Women’s History Month? “It is important to observe Women’s History Month because it is critical to share and highlight the many contributions of women throughout history. It is important to acknowledge the massive strides those before us have made to remind ourselves and future generations that with hard work anything we want to achieve is possible and someday might even be in the history books!”
What is the best part of your job? “The best part of my job is being able to see my vision or the team’s vision come to life. I am a very visual person, so having a scope of work that allows me to tap into my creative side makes my job fun and super rewarding.”
What are some challenges that women face in this industry? “One of the challenges that women face in this industry is that we are still under-represented in leadership, especially at the C-level. Although I do think women are making huge strides, my hopes are to see more women rising to the top!”
What is the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received? “The best career advice I have received was to be an avid learner and to embrace change even when it’s uncomfortable at times. One of my favorite quotes that I stick by is “Growth begins when comfort ends,” which could not be more true. The times I felt so out of my comfort zone were the moments that elevated me personally and professionally.”
What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute your success to, and why? “The personality traits I most attribute to my success are my grit and adaptability. I am willing to get my hands dirty in order to get things done, and if things are constantly changing, I will always think ahead and continue to push projects forward.”
Name a woman (or women) that you are grateful for or find empowering. “Two women that I am super grateful for are my mom and big sister. My mom was a single mom who raised four kids. No matter what was going on, she always pushed us to reach our goals and supported all dreams—large and small. My big sister is like a second mother to me. Anytime my mom was unable to make an event, she was right there in the wings cheering us on and never missed a significant event in our lives. Both women have shaped and continue to shape the woman and mother I am becoming. There aren’t enough words to describe how incredibly thankful I am to have their love and support.”
What’s your ideal way to spend your downtime? “My downtime is spent with my husband, 2-year-old son and my dog. We enjoy exploring new parks we find in our neighborhood, cooking together and watching movies.”
