Brenda Martinez
Senior Manager–Customer Success
What brought you to the organization, and what keeps you here?
I was referred by my brother, who was a dispatcher at the time. Before joining, I was the VP of Operations for an e-commerce company for seven years and was ready to try something different. This was my first job in the logistics industry, so the idea of challenging myself and learning something new is what initially brought me in, and it’s what continues to keep me here.
Can you share a proud moment or accomplishment from your time working here?
One accomplishment I’m really proud of is how far I’ve come. I started with no industry knowledge and worked my way up, gaining recognition from both customers and upper management along the way. Now, I’ve been given the opportunity to run my own team across several regions, which is something I’m extremely proud of.
What’s one challenge you’ve overcome in your career?
Coming into the industry with no experience was definitely my biggest challenge. I was determined to prove to myself and to others that I belonged here. I taught myself a lot by researching online, watching videos and asking questions to anyone willing to share their knowledge, regardless of their position.
What do you think the future of logistics/transportation needs more of?
People who genuinely care about the work and the industry. By that, I mean people who are willing to learn, grow, and take pride in what they do.
What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?
“If you’re in the room, you belong there.” Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. This industry can be intimidating, but confidence in yourself and your abilities goes a long way.
What advice would you give to other women interested in a career in logistics?
Be confident. The logistics industry offers so many opportunities for growth and innovation. Believe in your abilities, be willing to take on challenges and don’t be afraid to step into spaces where you can make an impact.
